How to choose a LED strip for a kitchen?

Kitchen lighting

Answer:

The kitchen is one of the busiest rooms at home. Bright, well-scattered kitchen lighting turns a kitchen into space, that is significantly more effective and more entertaining.

In kitchens, we can use lights and accessories in a wide range of styles and patterns so that they are suitable for every kitchen design from traditional to minimalist modern design. In today's trend of connecting a kitchen with a living area of the apartment, this space for cooking becomes a busy place for family reunions as well as for social life. And LED (diode) lighting is a great choice for a busy kitchen. They are energy-efficient light sources with a long lifetime. Using LED strips you can easily distribute light literally to every corner, they provide great flexibility in design project.

Kitchens love LED strips

LED strips can be easily installed along the whole worktop, into glass cabinets, drawers, and in all dark corners of the kitchen unit so that users have an excellent view of every stored object. Diode LED stips will allow you even illumination of the entire worktop, which is very important for quality work in the kitchen. Choosing the right type of LED strips plays a big role in efficient lighting. It is advisable to stick to the style and color of the kitchen but generally, it is good to use rather LED strips with cooler light – with higher color chromaticity. However, also those LED strips with a warmer tone of light will suit well in a rustic traditional kitchen. As additional decorative lighting, we can also use RGB LED strips, which can greatly emphasize the colors of the kitchen. However, they are not suitable as kitchen worktop lighting.

Another important criterion for the right selection is the wattage of LED strips – which means their luminous intensity. For the illumination of cabinets, plinths or drawers, the basic luminous intensity with wattage 4,8W/meter will be enough. However, this luminous intensity would not be sufficient for kitchen worktop lighting, therefore it is necessary to choose the higher luminous intensity. If we use the strips with a maximum wattage of 9,6 W/m, it is not necessary to cool the strips and they can be installed independently. It is good to cool the strips with higher wattage (around 12 W/m) so that they don't overheat. For this purpose, aluminum profiles are used, which are installed with LED strips. Thanks to unlimited placement options and diode strip combinations, the kitchen can be tailored even to the most demanding user.
